Why some countries are much harder to find

Difficulty is not only about country size. Remote islands, enclaves, fragmented territories, and places with few familiar neighbours can all produce difficult searches.

At a glance

  • Learn island chains by region
  • Remember enclaves and microstates
  • Use nearest coastlines
  • Do not abandon a hot cluster too early

Islands and isolated regions

Small Pacific and Caribbean nations are hard because a continental guess can remain thousands of kilometres away without revealing a clear direction. Learn island chains as groups and use the nearest large coastline as a bridge.

Small states and confusing borders

Compact European states and countries with similar neighbours can hide inside a hot region. Once distances collapse, review microstates, enclaves, and less frequently guessed border countries before jumping away.
